Welcome to the course home! The live course will be an action-packed day of learning with a lot of lab time, and the pre-course and tableau resources found here will maximize your understanding of the course content.
IMPORTANT: The content and curriculum on this page are only accessible to registrants of prior and upcoming courses. Attendees must be logged in to view the content.
Pre-Course Content
Before the course begins, make sure you look through the videos in the “curriculum” tab. These take roughly 2 hours to get through, with Descriptive Statistics taking the longest. If you are very familiar with how dynamometers and force plates work, feel free to skip them. However the videos serve as foundational knowledge to the course. You may get lost or ask repeat questions if you don’t watch them!
Live Course

On the day of your course we will be doing a “lecture-then-lab” format where we go through one portion of the course, then follow it up with hands-on application. The slidedeck will be uploaded the evening before the course date. To have a great experience it is recommended to:
- Wear comfortable athletic clothes
- Download the slidedeck once available or prior to the course start
- Download the VALD Dynamo and VALD Forcedecks app. The dynamo works best on a mobile phone, whereas Forcedecks works best on the tablet
Tableau Course
What is Tableau? It is a data visualization course. As you begin collecting more information, you will realize it is quite hard to “look” at the data the way you want to analyze it quickly or to show a story. Tableau makes all this quick! The course is 1-hour of online videos that will take you through the software to show you how to use it, and when to do certain things with graphs to assist you in your data journey. The course comes with a sample data set for you to work with. This is self-guided and can be done before or after the course.
Resources
In the resources page, you will find several useful things such as:
- Return-to-sport calculator: Auto-calculates many metrics used for return-to-testing, and generates nice reports for athletes
- Sample data set for the Tableau course
- Tableau software download (for windows or for mac)
